That's why I'm extending my sale for 1 more day!

Cyber Monday lives on.

Party Penguin Parts of Speech

These penguins are so cute, I had to bring them back for more!

In this package there are 4 different centers to practice Parts of Speech.  It covers nouns, pronouns, adjectives, and verbs.  Everything is ready to go, as usual . . . print, laminate, and cut out your pieces!  (This is where my OCD quirk would require my trusted paper cutter for pretty lines.  Haha!)

You'll get a file folder game, memory game, Write Around the Room activity, and a Pocket Chart sorting center.  It also includes follow up worksheets to go with the activities.

Click the preview below to get it!
Enjoy!

Penguin Party!

Here's a FREEBIE!

These Party Penguins love to dance and your students will be dancing around your room looking for them!  In this fun version of Write Around the Room your students will follow the dancing penguins around the room copying and completing their sentences with the correct ending punctuation.  Get your free center by clicking the preview below!

Penguin Punctuation!

Here's a fun center to get your kids practicing their punctuation!

Use the punctuation snowballs to determine whether the sentence gives a statement, asks a question, or uses lots of feeling.  It's great as a pocket chart or game center.  Just print, laminate, and cut and the penguins are ready to rumble!  A follow-up worksheet is included for teachers to monitor student work or even count it as a grade!

Book Review!

I just realized!  The book review I wrote for the Teacher2Teacher blog is out!  Stop by and check it out!

Math Journal Prompts

Every week I have a Math Journal center for my students during Guided Math.  I give them a question which they can respond to that pertains to the skill we have either just covered or are currently covering.  Students can write, draw and create number sentences to respond to the questions.  The general rule of thumb for writing in my class is that it has to have at least 3 sentences.  This applies to Math Journal as well.  In this package there are 50 Math Journal prompts to cover all the Math skills covered in 1st grade!

Still Thankful

Thanksgiving may be done this year, but that doesn't mean that we are no longer thankful! What are some free resources you're thankful for?

For me - I know I've always got my iPhone nearby but I don't always have my ez-grader. That's why I'm thankful for the free Groovy Grader app. Type in the number of problems and it gives you percentage scale according to the number of problems missed! Check it out...it's wonderful!

Let's hear your story!

Have you ever had one of those days when it's just one little thing after another that leaves you asking, "really?!?". It's been one of those days here.

I was going through a students desk helping her sort out work that had gotten "lost" in her desk. I saw something waaaaaay in the back that I couldn't reach while looking so I straightened up and reached
back blindly (saying in my head "Lord, please don't let me regret this") only to pull out a bag of apple slices so rotten it looked like watery peanut butter. Ugh.

So, sorry! No freebies or takeaways here today. But you do get a chance to share your memorable moment! I'd love to hear it!

Inventors Use Imagination!

We've been studying Benjamin Franklin for Social Studies lately, and something that I've noticed is the amazement my children have when they see pictures of his inventions.  As I describe the inventions and explain what each invention does, you can actually see some jaws drop and a little light shines in their eyes.  Adorable!

This week we are combining the use of imagination we have been talking about in Writing (regarding fictional writing) and the background knowledge we have from studying Benjamin Franklin's inventions.  For journal my kids will be thinking of their own inventions, naming them, and explaining the purpose of the invention and how it works.  Last week I hinted that we would be doing this, and they were so excited!  I can't wait to see what they come up with!

Here it is if you'd like to try this too!

Forms, Forms, Forms! over @ Classroom Freebies!

Do you need to get (or stay) organized?  I've posted a bunch of my free forms over in Classroom Freebies!  Go check it out and see if there's anything that can help you!

Coming soon . . . K5 Learning website review

K5 Learning has an online reading and math program for kindergarten to grade 5 students. I've been given a 6 week free trial to test and write a review of their program. If you are a blogger, you may want to check out their open invitation to write an online learning review of their program.

I already took a quick peek at some of their demos and it looks pretty interesting.  I'm going to take the next 6 weeks to check it out and get some feedback from a friend's child to get a student perspective as well!  I'll be back in about 3 weeks to let you know what we think!
